If Everyone Spoke Sign Language….

I have the pleasure of directing youth musical theater during the summers, working with children ages 8 – 15 on 5 – 6 shows each summer (plus really fun creative drama with 3 – 8 year olds who love to learn ASL!).  But along with that comes strain on my voice. It’s my 9th summer, and having just completed show #52 for this special summer camp, it’s the first time I’ve completely lost my voice.  And I mean completely.  Not a sound will come out. So of course I’m signing all the time… but only one or two people here understand me somewhat, and they’re not in my program! If everyone learned sign language as babies and young children, we’d all be able to communicate regardless of having our voices, having our mouths full, being across the playground, in the library, or through a window.  So I’ve been teaching it a bit – but really would love it if everyone here (and everywhere) spoke sign language!  Join us at Baby Fingers so you can learn – classes for adults, families, kids of all ages.
