Mom Forever, a parenting poem

I’m a mom now, forever
I stepped into those shoes
From the first “Yes, I’m pregnant!”
To the postpartum blues

From the months without sleep
The floor scattered with toys
To convincing myself
I love parenting boys

It sure hasn’t been easy
Not one little bit
So I look for the “pros”
In a job I can’t quit

From diapers to boxers
Bjorn to metrocard
Threenagers to teenagers
Parenting is hard!

The rewards come at times
When we snuggle and play
Time at the park or museums
Filling up rainy days

The rewards come in seeing
The choices they make
From friends that they have
To career paths they’ll take

Each day I am proud
And I’m terrified too
Am I doing and giving
What a parent should do?
