About Us
For over 25 years, Baby Fingers has been guiding families, schools, and educators on a unique journey through music and American Sign Language (ASL). Based in New York City with programs available virtually worldwide, we support language development for both Deaf and hearing children, while strengthening family bonds through the power of sign language and music.
Who We Teach
Baby Fingers programs are not “baby sign language.” Our students range from newborns to adults, including hearing and Deaf participants, with and without disabilities. Our curriculum is rooted in real language and Deaf culture, built on research and evidence-based practice, and taught by highly qualified professionals.
Through our programs, students of all ages build:
Expressive and receptive language skills
Bilingualism and literacy foundations
Confidence in communication and self-expression
A stronger connection to cultural identity
Why ASL & Music Together?
We offer ASL programs that:
Jumpstart language acquisition for infants and toddlers
Provide self-expression when speech isn’t accessible
Support second language learning at any age
Music plays an essential role, offering:
Natural repetition and memory support
Rhythmic patterns that aid focus and attention
Vocal exploration and family bonding
Joyful, creative experiences that make learning fun
Our Teachers
Our Deaf educators share authentic cultural perspectives, many raised with ASL from birth. Others bring their personal journeys of learning ASL later in life. Our hearing teachers are proficient signers, deeply connected to the Deaf community, and trained to provide accessible language and creative arts experiences.
We also:
Connect hearing parents of Deaf children with Deaf mentors and community support
Support families with children who have disabilities in their communication journey
Offer adult ASL classes for parents, professionals, and Deaf adults beginning their ASL education
Inclusive Learning for All
Our classes often include both Deaf and hearing families, fostering cross-cultural comfort and communication. We welcome kids, teens, and young adults with disabilities, integrating ASL into daily life for a wide variety of personal, educational, and professional goals.
