I have found that during this pandemic, collaboration is even more important than ever. While we’ve always worked with other companies, business owners, and individuals in a variety of ways, this past year has been a lesson in lifting each other up and sharing strengths. My most recent collaboration was with Salvador Sanchez, a Deaf multimedia artist who helped us to create these characters for Baby Fingers. There’s a contest for their names too – if you have suggestions, you can email us or follow the instructions on our Instagram post with their picture, and you’ll be entered into a drawing for a free drop-in class.
It’s important to us at Baby Fingers that we provide support and visibility to Deaf owned, special needs owned, woman owned, and parent owned businesses. It’s also essential to our mission and philosophy that we represent, welcome, and embrace a diverse teaching team and student body. Our own community reflects that of the world at large – a range of skin tones, hearing levels, and ages; diverse cultural backgrounds, native languages, gender identity and expression, and family structures.
So not only do we collaborate with businesses and artists, but as a team we collaborate with families to provide a community that is safe, nurturing, and open to all who wish to join. Hate has no home here – come in and ‘find your tribe,’ make a new friend, ‘unpack your bags,’ share in the joy of learning and growing through sign and song at Baby Fingers.
