DO – OVERS

I often hear kids asking for, or giving each other, a “do-over” during a game or a casual sport. This week, it made me wonder what I would choose to do over, if given the chance.

There are certainly some things I would choose not to have ever done at all – though how would I know not to, without having made the choice in the first place?  Sometimes we need those lessons, whatever difficulty they may have caused.

There are other things I’d like to do the  same way but perhaps just a bit later in my life.  If I could marry the same person and have the same children a few years later, that might have been good… However, while there were things I put off to get married, there are many other opportunities that presented themselves as a result – and I wouldn’t trade those experiences for anything.

We shape our lives with the choices we make, and we are shaped by them as well. It’s only on rare occasion that I’d like to shout “do over!”  Most likely, I’d wind up doing everything pretty much the same way!  How about you?
