“I love you.”
It’s important to talk with your baby, sing with him or her, read books out loud… and signing together will help you focus even more on language development so you can truly communicate with your baby. You’ll discover the special bonds of your relationship getting stronger that much faster too.
Research has demonstrated that exposing your baby to sign language can jump-start overall language development, increase IQ, and improve vocabulary. It can also decrease tantrums that occur as a result of communication-related frustration.
If you start young and you are consistent with signing, your baby could start to sign back as early as 5 – 7 months, but most will start between 9 – 12 months. If you have a toddler who isn’t yet communicating, he or she could pick up signs quite quickly and be motivated to speak before you know it!
Once you get started, you’re sure to want more! So join a class, get a book or a webinar, and start signing with your baby today. www.mybabyfingers.com.
